Meeting the healthcare system gaps

Cervical cancer is the most common cancer among women in the rural areas and it is the leading cause of cancer deaths among women in the rural areas. Although it is preventable and curable but due to the lack of proper treatment and screening women in the rural areas suffering from cervical cancer remain unnoticed.

Aiming at this loophole our GeBBS Foundation volunteers and partners (MGM and Hedgeware hospital) regularly conduct health check up camps in the rural areas of Aurangabad and Jalnain our mobile van ‘clinic-on-wheels’. Our doctors and volunteers regularly visit different villages in the mobile van to conduct health check-ups and screening for breast cancer and cervical cancer.

Below, one of our volunteer’s has described his experience with our GeBBS Foundation.

(Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad)

“I am grateful to GeBBS Foundation for giving me an opportunity to work for a noble cause in the rural areas. All the health check-up camps are very well planned and  well executed to safeguard the women in the rural areas. I must say, great job done by GeBBS Foundation. Cervical cancer is one of the mostcommon diseases amongst women, and especially for women in the rural areas. So, it is very important to have healthcare camps and awareness sessions to eradicate this disease in the rural areas. The initiative like the Clinic on Wheels undertaken by the GeBBS Foundation for women to fight cervical and breast cancer is a great initiative. This well equipped van moves around different villages to provide healthcare support. A thorough check up is done by the MGM doctors post which the patients are sent to the MGM hospital in Aurangabad. I am sure that initiatives like these will continue to benefit several women in the future too. The work done by GeBBS Foundation is inspiring and provides a great platform for people like me who are passionate about doing something for the society.”

Together we will continue to eradicate the disease and be the change we want.
