Tireless helping hands of our volunteers

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected almost all of India. Earlier people were under the impression that the rural areas can be protected from the virus with proper covid-19 testing and by maintaining the government guidelines. But, after the return of the migrant workers to their hometown, the problem of spreading the virus arose. More than half of all Covid-19 cases recorded in the previous month came from 584 districts that are classified as mostly rural or entirely rural.

In this entire chaos, GeBBS Foundation came forward to help the people in the rural areas to battle the disease. When the villagers struggled to manage a meal, our GeBBS volunteers came forward to provide both food and medical support to all the people in the rural areas of Aurangabad. To further create an impact on the fragile health systems in Aurangabad and Jalna our volunteers along with the Kishori Vikas PrakalpSamanvayakGrahmin Savitribai Phule Mahila Ekatma Samajh Mandal initiated covid -19 and other general healthcare awareness sessions in different villages. Together they conducted sessions on sensitive and important topics like mental health during a crisis, ways to take personal care, the importance of maintaining hygiene and so on.

Hear our volunteer speaks about his experience with GeBBS Foundation.

Dr. Vijay Dharmadhikari,Medical Officer (Savitribai Phule MahilaEkatmaSamaj Mandal – Rural Health)

“The coronavirus outbreak has changed my life. The fear of not being able to help anyone was bothering me a lot. I wanted to get started quickly and help the people in the rural areas. But as an individual I could not do much and because of the lockdown providing support to many was almost close to impossible. I am thankful to GeBBS Foundation for supporting and helpingall the doctors and volunteers who were eager to serve the people in the rural areas during this Covid crisis. In this pandemic we managed to visit villages and attend OPDs without any interruption because of the mobile van provided by GeBBS Foundation. This well-equipped mobile van was a blessing in disguise for all the people in the rural areas of Aurangabad. It was also very convenient for all of us to conduct healthcare check-ups and Covid tests for the rural population.

I would like to thank GeBBS foundation from the bottom of my heart for providing this opportunity.”

We GeBBS Foundation believe that the best reward for volunteering is to bring a smile on the face of the people who are in need. Hence we will continue to be there for our people in the rural areas and ‘Be the change we want to see’.
